one of my favorite poems

When You are Old

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

Sorry I haven't updated

I'm working on that poem suggestion you gave me. It's taking me some time because I've already done like two edits, but it's coming along. We'll see.

As for your poems, I'm going to try to look at them tonight. I should have some extra time so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Last week I told Amy to write a Sarah Palin Poem. We all know how that shit went down. It didn't, as far as I hear. Mine was torn apart in my grad workshop. Lucy liked it. And then, our burnout workshop idea was formed.

So, we talked about this, and made it happen.

Write something this week. We'll comment as we do. This is going to be the best workshop I have ever had.

La, la. I like it. So, this week I am going to be trying to write an ode. If you want my suggestions, such as they are:

Amy Amelia: write a poem about your dad in response to "Oh my pa-pa."
Lucy Lou: write about the prayer circle at your aunt and uncle's house when you were there with Stephanie.

I am writing a poem about ... ?? Idk. Maybe going trucking with my dad. I'm currently doing NaNoWriMo. So much novel-writing has begun. I think I suck at this. But I am trying. I want to teach creative writing when I get out of the graduate school doom I'm currently in. So I should be able to speak about some experiences I've had with more than just poetry.
